Up for sale is an Original 1960s US Navy USS Scorpion SSN 589 Submarine Embroidered Full Color Patch. The USS Scorpion was an early 60s nuclear submarine. It has the unfortunate distinction of being one of the few submarines lot at sea. Returning from a deployment, it mysteriously sank, taking all 99 soles with it. No official Navy cause was attributed to the sinking. The patch is in good condition but a few spots on the upper portion of the patch (see close up photo). The “white” portion of the patch is more of a yellowed or off white color and not the bright white shown in the photo. Difficult to get the camera to depict the correct color.
