Available is an original United States Navy Expeditionary Medal that is uncommon to find. The medal was established on 5 August 1936. General Orders of the Department of the Navy which created the medal state, The medal will be awarded to the officers and enlisted men of the Navy who were confirmed to have landed on foreign territory and engaged in operations against armed opposition, or operated under circumstances which, after full consideration, shall be deemed to merit special recognition and for which no service or campaign medal has been awarded. The Navy Expeditionary Medal is retroactively authorized to February 12, 1874. The medal comes on its original full wrap broach mounted ribbon with a rotating catch. The unnumbered rim of the medal contains the tell-tale signs of milling mark associated with the early U. Mint Contract; soldered suspension ring and milled edge. This is a strike that likely dates sometime from the medal was established to before World War II. The medal and ribbon are in good condition but does show some light age to both the ribbon and planchet. Please be sure to check out the pictures I have posted and judge condition for yourself. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
