I received this pin when I qualified as a service warfare officer as an Ensign aboard USS Spruance in 1978. I have since retired from our Navy and would like to find this very rare and special pin a new chest to be pinned on. He was a fellow USNA graduate and always had an ad in the Shipmate magazine. This is NOT gold plated… It is solid 14K GOLD & clearly marked as such as you can see in the photos. Even the pins are gold! It weighs out at 13 ounces which is about 1/2 ounce of 14 karat gold. It would make a great?? gift. And it certainly won’t decrease in value.
