His name is Leon John Jacobi, and he was in the service from WW I to the Mid’50s. This is a very large Rear Admiral Grouping that is in three listings. This is one of the three listings. The corner of the photo is torn off, and I think the date is October 15, 1921. The message at the bottom is: Taken from the Brooklyn Bridge when the first fleet left the yard. There are many cracks and tears in the photo; however, a black frame has protected it. A large black and white photo measures 9 x 7 inches in a frame of 14.25 x 11.25 inches. The inscription on the picture is: To My good friend Admiral Jacobi with great appreciation and admiration. I think the signature is Aleigh Burke. The name could be wrong. The Department of Defense to Leon R. Jacobi, Rear Admiral, USNR, dated February 15, 1956, in a frame that measures 15 x12 inches. The other large certificate is his discharge paper dated November First, 1953. The certificate is in a large frame that measures 15 x 12 inches. Both frames have some damage. A two-star heavy metal plaque is attached to a block of wood. Also, there is a plaque U. Dubuque Club Reunion 1975. So I guess he was also on the U. A wood hammer with the metal plaque reads Rear Admiral Jacobi USRN Ret. President Detroit Navy League From Commander Submarine Force Atlantic Fleet. The paper surrounding the metal plaque reads Presented 4-20-61 Boat Club lunch by Adm. A 1921 bulletin from his days while he was Midshipman at Annapolis. I have kept it in a plastic sleeve to send. A two-star automobile flag, a 4 x 4 flag, and a little flag with the bulletin. Please look over the pictures carefully as they are also part of the description. From my personal collection. Some of the books that I have listed are new and have never been read. I bought these books from book dealers at shows. My passion is history, and I desire that my vintage militaria items go to collectors so that our past lives on and the items will continue to be preserved. Many many years ago, a collector friend of mine came over to see my collection. He said to me, you do not own these items; they are simply on loan to you until another collector buys your items to enjoy and preserve. Years later, I have realized just how exact his words were. It is important to me that the vintage items are preserved for years to come for history. This item has been in my collection for many years. My collections are in rooms that do not get any outside light. Therefore, you won’t find any fading with any of my militaria items, a smoke-free environment.
