Comes Free A Clean Pandemic Free Household Guaranteed. Item: Early 20th Century Linen Litho Cloth. Note: This Rare Linen Cloth came from a Collection of a British Merchant Marine who resided in the U. I take pride in being able to do good research on items I sell but sometimes I get stumped. There is a a lot of printed information on the bottom of this piece such as the maker. You would think having that info one would be able to gather info right away. But, after searching everywhere online I cannot find any mention of this item specifically and not even the maker whose name is plain as day along the bottom edge!! I have tirelessly searched everywhere online to find any item that even closely resembled this with zero luck. I don’t claim it to be ” one of a kind” , but I would not be surprised at all if it turned out to be one. One thing for sure is there is no way it was mass produced. I showed this item to two Early 20th Century Naval Historians and heard their opinions about this item. For their privacy and I cannot supply their names. One of them is from the Naval Museum at Annapolis and the other a Doctor of History and a Professor in a Leading U. University in Washington D. And seen on History Channel TV Shows often. In regards to why the font used has a Asian Style to it is goes back to paying homage to the ” The Great White Fleet “. Naval power to the world which surely included Japan. The more I learn about this, I do begin to feel it is one of a kind. The Last Two Photos show a couple WW1 Era Cloth Collectibles I found along with the one for sale in this listing. Description: For Sale is an Antique Original Pre-WW1 Period Linen Cloth Small Banner. This item measures 20″W x 17″T. It features a U. Navy Dreadnought Battleship and the slogan ” Freedom Of The Seas “. This slogan was also one of President Wilson’s 14 Points of Joining WW1. Along the bottom of this poster/banner it reads “Use New Art Ewby’s Silk” + McCrory Design No. As mentioned above, I cannot find any information AT ALL online about this maker’s name as well. But, the reference to using “Silk” probably refers to the normal practice of giving these Linen Cloths a Silk Backing which this one does NOT have. Most likely the symbology on this item reflects and pays homage to The Great White Fleet. With that being the case… Condition: On a scale of 1 – 10 (Ten being New in Package Only), I can confidently grade this item’s condition to be a solid 7.5 at least. Overall and Especially for being 95+ Years Old, this Highly Collectible and Rare Linen Cloth Poster is in Very Good Original Condition. This item is No Less than 85% Immaculate. There are Absolutely ZERO Holes/Tears. To the upper left of the word ” Freedom” are (2) small thin scuffs. The edges do have threads sporadically poking out because it has not had a border attached to it yet when produced. I would imagine the white linen background was probably much brighter when originally made. It is now uniformly discolored. The Graphics are really looking wonderful though. The Linen Cloth is NOT at all dried out nor brittle. As long as the edges are treated with respect it truly is quite tough. My photos are an accurate depiction of this item’s TRUE Condition. So, upon arrival expect there to be some folds to the cloth. They do easily iron out though. Iron from the back of the linen using just enough heat to do the job. That is surely another option I’ll explore. Thank you for looking at my listing. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I do my best to provide you with the best values. Please read my feedback. Many of the items I sell are. So it is sometimes impractical to describe every flaw and imperfection, but I will try to give the most accurate description I can. Photos are an important part of the description; questions and clarifications are encouraged and welcome. The shorter amount of time it is in the Postal System, the better chance it will arrive safely. I pack each item as if it is the “Holy Grail” but accidents do happen from time to time. By purchasing this item, you are agreeing to take photos of the. Item and the box. So, if for any reason you are unhappy.
