RARE Vietnam medal group to KIA Navy Corpsman
These were awarded to HM2 John J. Van Vleck , a hospital corpsman (medic) attached to the Marines, and killed in action in South Vietnam 06 July 1967. The group also came with many sheets of photocopied research from Van Vleck’s file, including the full citation for his Bronze Star (with “V”) for an action on 14 May 1967. These three original medals had been in (before Gleim got them) some kind of display frame or case, so there is slight glue residue on the ribbon backs, but the metal pendants look fine. That display has remained intact for the past 30 years, until I now finally decided to offer this for sale. Obviously, his original Navy Good Conduct Medal would have been name-and-date stamped on the back, but this later-vintage item is not.
