WWII ERA US NAVY ENLISTED MAN’S HAT. It is clean overall and is named to a crewman of the USS Arizona on the inside. The exterior body is a heavy dark blue wool that remains clean and without issues (see photos). There are no rips tears or losses anywhere and no mothing (see photos). The USS Arizona tally shows some overall wear but is completely intact and remains solidly attached to the body with all original stitching (see photos). The ships name is completely legible and shows expected wear to the gold lettering (see photos). The interior also shows expected age/wear and has a solidly attached leather sweatband (see photo). The interior crown is a blue patterned material to which the name H. Copland is nicely stenciled in military fashion (see photos). The crown material has a wear pattern to the center and the stencil in that area is slightly worn as well (see photos). I haven’t done any research on the crew member – H. The estate thought Copland’s enlistment was up in 1939 but it could have been a year or two earlier or later. Based upon the hats interior style I believe that information is correct. This hat is exceptionally rare. With the crewman’s name the hat will undoubtedly research unlike other un-named ones. This hat shows average period use/wear and is fresh out of the woodwork after years in an estate. It is absolutely guaranteed to be an original period made/worn item.
