US Navy SARD 6x42 Mk 43 Super Wide Angle Binocular Binoculars SPECIAL
Just received back from Suddarth Optical is this Fully Restored , special enhanced version of the US Navy Mk. 43, 6×42 Super Wide Angle binocular. Like a true War Hero being brought back to life to serve a new generation, this SARD (Square-D) Military 6×42 binocular is almost as new. It is in immaculate condition. The images are excellent, and are actually breathtaking when used for astronomy. It provides the widest and brightest night sky images I have ever seen. The lenses are fully coated, and the coatings are still FULLY INTACT with only minor cleaning marks. There are NO chips or cracks in the glass or prisms, and no dirt, dust, haze or fungus inside the binocular. Collimation is up to full military standards , having been collimated with the US Navy Mark V Collimator at Suddarth Optical. All moving parts have also been properly lubricated, so focusing is one-finger smooth and easy. You will only find a few residual specks on the prism surfaces as evidence of the great world war that it previously survived. None of these will have any effect on performance. As designed, this US Navy binocular offers a super-bright 7mm exit pupil, and a nearly 12° real field of view. But more than that, it has much longer eye relief than even many standard field binoculars. I measured 18mm of eye relief… Enough for an eyeglass wearer to see the full 12° field of view WHILE WEARING YOUR GLASSES. The original batwing style eyecups on this particlular binocular are long gone. So I have fitted an extra large soft rubber fold down type of eyecup to each eyepiece which, because of the elastic properties of the rubber, will allow eyeglass wearers to see the full field of view without even having to fold the eyecups down. Simply bring them up to your glasses and press the soft rubber eyecups to your eyeglass lenses, and you will be rewarded with the widest binocular field of view you have ever seen while wearing your glasses. Even if you don’t wear glasses, the eyecups are perfect. This US Navy Spec. Binocular also allows images that are much brighter towards the edges of the field than any other wide field binocular. The reason for this is all in the size of the prisms. Smaller prisms, as used in most commercially made wide field binoculars, do just fine closer to the center of the field of view. But as you move away from the center of the field, the full illumination of the image falls off. In this binocular, the BaK4 prisms are large enough to provide near full illumination to the edges of the field of view. The design also produces few, if any ghost images on bright images. I did comparisons using streetlights at night, and the full moon. Most commercial wide angle binoculars produce MANY bright ghost images. This binocular offered only one faint ghost image that was very easy to ignore. Some consider this to be the finest wide field binocular ever produced. If manufactured today, it’s hard to imagine how many thousands of dollars it would cost. Also included is a brand new high quality Allen neoprene strap, as shown in the pics. If you have any questions, please ask. I want this one to go to a good home. The item “US Navy SARD 6×42 Mk 43 Super Wide Angle Binocular Binoculars SPECIAL” is in sale since Sunday, April 28, 2019.
