This listing is for the used shirt shown, which could use a good wash. It is in decent shape overall though, but you can see it isn’t clean. It is missing the tag that tells the size, manufacturing country, material, etc. I tried it is for a second, and it fit me perfectly. I’m a size Large. However, the arm sleeves were a little tight (like a Medium), which might display muscles nicely. To some, that is a defect, and to others, it is welcome. The shirt felt a little big on the stomach part. My guess is that this was once an XL shirt that shrunk in the arms and kept the rest of its original form. It looks really nice. Please see the photos. Feel free to ask any questions that you might have.

The mechanical bathythermograph was invented as a tool to understand the temperature layers of the ocean. The torpedo-shaped device was attached to a long cord and dropped off the side of a boat. As it sunk towards the sea floor, an internal needle scratched a line on a piece of glass that represented temperature relative to water depth. For a thermal element it has a xylene-filled copper coil, which actuates a stylus through a Bourdon tube. The pressure element is a copper aneroid capsule that moves a smoked glass slide at right angles to the motion of the stylus. A double analog record is thus obtained as the BT is lowered and recovered. This device was generally replaced by the expendable bathythermograph (XBT). This object is a bathythermograph MK 5. It has a torpedo-shaped body with 6 fins and is in a grey-painted wooden case. The instrument has a fitting for a bathythermographic slide, and a catch release for a pin to mark the slide. The top of the bathythermograph is marked’Hawker Siddeley’ and it was made by S. Until the development of the bathythermograph in 1938, the thermocline (the layer of rapid temperature change between surface and deep water) had not been understood. The bathythermograph was able to show the structure of this layer more readily than could be achieved by measurements using a water bottle and thermometer. Navy used bathythermograph was passed down from the navy to the USS Midway Museum in San Diego around the 80s or 90s, the navy used the bathythermograph around the 70s until they stopped using bathythermographs cause of more advanced and easy to use technology. After some years the museum had no need for the bathythermograph so they where gonna get rid of it, a family member of mine that used to work in the same museum or a near by one found out they where gonna get rid of it he kindly asked if he could have it and he passed it down to me. The small blue box with slides in them are research that the navy, the slides where used to calculate the depths of an underwater current. At the top right of the box all those slides are used by the navy and the rest are blank. I will accept only reasonable offers.
