For sale is an 8X10 framed display with two 4X6 matted areas, one features a photo of the USS Texas, the other card features a small piece of original wood from the USS Texas similar to the one pictured. The wood is original 1911 teak wood, not the 1990s wood you often see, far harder to get. The Texas was a World War I era New York Class battleship that served through WWII until 1948 earning 5 battle stars. She is most famous for taking in water during D-Day to elevate her guns during the battle. Currently, she is a museum under restoration. The wood was removed from her during restoration. Once the wood was acquired, I cut it down keeping part for myself and making these. The display includes a letter of authenticity as well as a copy of the COA from the museum. Frame, shape, and size of piece may vary. This is a great item for any navy, history, WWI or WWII enthusiast! I have been collecting artifacts for over 20 years. Grab a small piece of history! The display includes a letter of authenticity as a whole as well as copies of documentation from the USS Iowa, New Jersey, and Missouri museums where I squired those pieces of wood directly. This is a great item for any navy, history, or WWII enthusiast! This is a piece of every completed Iowa Class battleship that served in World War II and with Missouri, where the Japanese surrender was signed. I have been collecting artifacts for over 20 years. The Battleship New Jersey Memorial in Camden, NJ, is in a multi-year project of replacing the 80 year old wood deck (original WWII era wood) Original pieces of the teak are obtained from this restoration. A 4″x4″x2 block of this original deck has been turn on a lathe into a small bowl. The whole block is for illustration only and will not be included. I’m showing what I started with to create the bowl. The bowl is handcrafted from the cut blocks received from the battleship. I left the original “live” deck surface as the bowl rim. The rubber gasket around the “dog tag” makes for a very stable foot for the bowl. A paper Certificate of Authenticity, as received from the USS New Jersey Museum and Memorial will be included.
