Iconic piece of WW2 history this mermaid pin was used to signify the victory of the war and was given to the submariners of whom fought in both theaters of the war. The seaweed in the brooch is in the shape of a V which stands for victory. The mermaid is highly detailed down to the scales in her tail. This is a rare piece to be in such great working order. Pin is straight and works with ease. Clasp rolls over with no issues. Great vintage condition with lovely deep patina. Signature is located on the reverse stating STERLING and a U with an arrow pointing to the left. This is the signature for Uncas Brothers. This company was known for making high end products that last. Acid tests positive for sterling silver. Brooch measures 1 and 1/2 inches tall by 1 inch wide.
