Manufactured In 1944 for use during WWII by the (UNITED STATES NAVY). Genuine & Authentic WWII GENERAL ELECTRIC HIGH POWERED SEARCHLIGHT (Carbon Arc). UP FOR SALE IS A VERY RARE AND EXTREMELY SCARCE ORIGINAL VINTAGE 1944 WWII (WORLD WAR 2) U. NAVY MODEL 93113 HIGH POWERED 24 CARBON ARC SEARCHLIGHT MANUFACTURED BY (GENERAL ELECTRIC). MAYBE EVEN ONE THAT WAS BUILT BY HENRY KAISER. PROBABLY WAS ON SOME TYPE OF U. NAVY BATTLESHIP OR DESTROYER.. NAVY MODEL 93113 HIGH POWERED 24 CARBON ARC SEARCHLIGHT. These were used for signaling, visual search, navigation and even fire control. This light was equipped with a handle on each side of the barrel for left or right handed operators to send visual (light) Morse code. The 24-inch carbon arc was very brilliant and the signals (at night) could be bounced off the cloud cover and around the curvature of the earth. It has been told in visual communicators circles that a Morse signal sent by light has been confirmed (by radar) to have been sent up to a distance of two ships 80 miles apart! USES OF NAVAL SEARCHLIGHTS DURING WWII. The 36-inch light is used primarily for fire control. Usually they are equipped with remote control systems so they can be trained and elevated from the gun fire control director. Most are equipped with an iris shutter and may be operated either manually or by an automatic motor. The 24-inch searchlight is a general purpose light and although it may be used for fire control purposes, generally it is used for long range signaling. These searchlights are not equipped with remote control for train and elevation. The light sometimes is equipped with the remote control signal key. This lamp usually has both the iris and vane type shutter. The 12-inch searchlight is used primarily for short range signaling. These lights are not equipped with remote control equipment, and have a manually controlled vane type shutter. REQUIREMENTS OF A SEARCHLIGHT. A Navy searchlight must have a narrow, pencil-like light beam. The light must be non-flickering and of a’bluish white color. It must operate properly from any position, under all weather conditions, and give trouble-free operation over a long period of time. The train and elevation characteristics of most lights are: train through 360°, elevation of 110° to 120°, and depression of 30° to 40°. THEORY OF CARBON ARC SEARCHLIGHT. When an electric current at a moderate voltage is passed through two carbon rods, considerable heat is developed at the point of contact. Now if the carbon rods are separated a short distance a flaming arc will be drawn out. The act of making contact between the two carbons is necessary to start the arc and is called STRIKING THE ARC. When contact first occurs, a high current flows through the carbons. The high current produces heat which vaporizes the soft center of the positive carbon. This vapor acts as a conductor for the current as the carbons are drawn apart and will keep the current flowing until the distance between the carbons becomes too great. As the distance between the carbons increases the resistance of the arc circuit increases. The carbon vapor concentrates as a small ball in a depression in the positive carbon. This depression is called the CRATER. This ball of flaming gas in the crater is intensely luminous and is located at the focus of the reflector. The reflector thus projects the light from the arc crater into a beam of light, just as the reflector in your automobile projects the light from the lamp filament into a light beam. HIGH INTENSITY arcs work on the same principle as low intensity types except that the current is increased and the diameter of the carbon decreased, to obtain a more brilliant and concentrated source of light. I was told that the Signal Generator was displayed in a military museum for quite a few years until it was forced to close due. To unfortunate financial hardships. I do not have any. Other history on the Generator to provide. It’s major application is in the testing of Radio Receivers. It can also be used as an r-f voltage standard in field-intensity measurements. It’s wide carrier frequency range makes. It suitable for use as a power source in bridge. Measurements and for measurements on. There is a compartment on the top center of the cabinet. You can loosen the screw and slide the door open The instruction manual says that a Type TO-44 Adjustment Tool stores in the cabinet. I did not see a tool in the top compartment, just a little fuse. The Instruction Manual gives the user all the specs, uses, accessories used and much more information. Manual does mention a available accessory which is a. 1000-P4 Standard Dummy Antenna. Restored Rare U. S. Navy World War II Ships Signal Light Set U. S. N. Green Red

Beautiful, restored, rare U. Navy WWII, heavy cast brass, ships signal light set. Emerald Green glass(this Green glass lens is extremely rare we actually only have one Green glass lens left and haven’t seen another one in probably 10 years) & clear glass. Ruby Red glass & clear glass. Each light plugs right into the wall, runs on house current and since LED lights are used they can be left on day and night. Each light has’Sylvania Accent 0.6W LED Light Bulbs’. They are standard candelabra base size light bulbs (C7 bulbs). Each light measures approximately 15 inches tall and 6 inches wide. You just can’t get these WWII double lights anymore. This set came from the Lewis Equipment Company in Long Beach, California. I knew the owner, Manny. Unfortunately, he passed away, he was a wonderful guy. He rented nautical scenes to Hollywood. This set is from the Long Beach Naval Shipyard where they scrapped ships after World War II, own a piece of historical WWII history before it’s gone. The item “Restored Rare U. S.
