This is a big plaque measuring 11.5″ x 9.25″ and has great color. This was hand painted and it’s in good shape. There could be light scratches, edge nick issues, and the wood has the same issues and some light discoloration. The wood on this plaque is 1 thick and in good shape. Overall, really nice collectible from a great aircraft carrier.

US Navy Destroyer Squadron Five (DESRON 5) Hand Painted Metal Command Plaque. From the estate of Capt. David Nash, Navy Cross Recipient for his actions during WW2 while serving in the Philippines as a Lt. On the river gunboat USS Mindanao PR-8 (and who subsequently survived the Bataan Death march upon being captured after the Mindanao was sunk). Later in his career, Capt. Nash went on to Command DESRON 5, during which time he received the plaque featured in this listing. The hand painted metal plaque measures 7.5″ x 7″; the hard-wood base measures 11.75″ x 11.75″. Overall the piece is in very good+ antique condition. There’s a mounting wire in the back for convenient wall hanging. I will include the article shown in pic #5 with the plaque. 1970 USS Bennington CVS-20 Hand Painted Resin Presentation Plaque on Wood Base. The colorful, hand-painted resin plaque measures 6″ x 7″; it is mounted on to a 8″ x 12.5″ hard wood base; the 3″ x 1.5″ personalized brass plate is clean and quite legible. This would have been one of the last plaques bestowed upon crew as the Bennington was decommissioned the very month that this plaque was given. He plaque is in very good antique condition. Terrific command plaque from the USS Stoddard DD-566 , a WW2 Fletcher Class Destroyer credited for downing 2 Japanese Planes, with another probable and one assist during the Okinawa Campaign at the end of WW2. During its long service career, the Stoddard served in WW2, the Korean War, and in the Vietnam War (It racked up 3 Battle Stars for both WW2 and the Vietnam War). The metal plaque has a 6″ diameter; the hard wood base measures 9.75″ x 13. It has a mounting clip on the back. This will show beautifully on your man cave–or she shack–wall! USS Thomaston LSD-28 Painted Resin Plaque on Wood Base… The hand-painted resin-cast plaque measures 5.5″ x 7″ is in very good antique condition showing some typical–but not excessive–age/handing wear.
