This is a 1930s-1940s one wash shawl collar USN denim jacket. The buttons would have originally been USN ring back type, but have been replaced with 1931 patent Levi’s suspender buttons produced by Scovill, with the shank through the eyelet, thereby not actually piercing the jacket.
