Rarely encountered Original USN. A friend also contributed photos of another original box located back East. So far I have made 4 of these copies, (please see the last 3 photos). I do not consider myself a collector (even though I love the stuff) and sell the original item when this process is completed. As you can see the box is in relic condition, but is all there to some degree or another. I’ll let the pictures explain that. If you have questions please feel free to ask. I gently cleaned and applied a museum preservative when it first arrived.

The size is 53cm, width 57cm, shoulder width 58.5cm, sleeve length (shoulder to sleeve) 49cm. There are small damages such as dirt spots & small holes in several places, traces on the waist ribs, and 12cm lock sewing machine stitches on the rear right shoulder blade. WWII ERA US NAVY ENLISTED MAN’S HAT. It is clean overall and is named to a crewman of the USS Arizona on the inside. The exterior body is a heavy dark blue wool that remains clean and without issues (see photos). There are no rips tears or losses anywhere and no mothing (see photos). The USS Arizona tally shows some overall wear but is completely intact and remains solidly attached to the body with all original stitching (see photos). The ships name is completely legible and shows expected wear to the gold lettering (see photos). The interior also shows expected age/wear and has a solidly attached leather sweatband (see photo). The interior crown is a blue patterned material to which the name H. Copland is nicely stenciled in military fashion (see photos). The crown material has a wear pattern to the center and the stencil in that area is slightly worn as well (see photos). I haven’t done any research on the crew member – H. The estate thought Copland’s enlistment was up in 1939 but it could have been a year or two earlier or later. Based upon the hats interior style I believe that information is correct. This hat is exceptionally rare. With the crewman’s name the hat will undoubtedly research unlike other un-named ones. This hat shows average period use/wear and is fresh out of the woodwork after years in an estate. It is absolutely guaranteed to be an original period made/worn item. Great opportunity for the advanced WWII US Navy or Pearl Harbor collector. Very difficult to overstate the rarity of this item. Please check my other listings for other items from the same estate.
