Original Pre-WWII Navy Expeditionary Medal Early US Mint Contract Wrap Broach
Available is an original United States Navy Expeditionary Medal that is uncommon to find. The medal was established on 5 August 1936. General Orders of the Department of the Navy which created the medal state, The medal will be awarded to the officers and enlisted men of the Navy who were confirmed to have landed on foreign territory and engaged in operations against armed opposition, or operated under circumstances which, after full consideration, shall be deemed to merit special recognition and for which no service or campaign medal has been awarded. The Navy Expeditionary Medal is retroactively authorized to February 12, 1874. The medal comes on its original full wrap broach mounted ribbon with a rotating catch. The unnumbered rim of the medal contains the tell-tale signs of milling mark associated with the early U. Mint Contract; soldered suspension ring and milled edge. This is a strike that likely dates sometime from the medal was established to before World War II. The medal and ribbon are in good condition but does show some light age to both the ribbon and planchet. Please be sure to check out the pictures I have posted and judge condition for yourself. United States Navy and Marine Corps Medal. Early type with full wrap broach pin system. Most likely 1940s (ww2 era) issue. Navy and Marine Corps Medal is the highest non-combat decoration awarded for heroism by the United States Department of the Navy to members of the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. Established by an act of Congress in August of 1942, it recognizes individuals who distinguish themselves by heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy. The medal is octagonal in shape, made of bronze, and features an eagle holding a fouled anchor over a globe, with the word “Heroism” engraved below the globe. It is a prestigious award that acknowledges acts of bravery and self-sacrifice in life-threatening situations.

United States Navy Silver plated serving piece. It is likely a crumber but you may use it however you choose. Piece bears a very early USN monogram. The Pirate’s Lair listed several 1800’s items with this same USN monogram and those folks look like they know what they’re doing. Their pieces were not for sale. Piece is marked with the monogram. “USN” on the front. Back is marked “1847 Rogers Bros A1 16″. The Rogers company began using the 1847 marking in 1862. The company later incorporated with International Silver in 1898, and pieces made after the merger usually also have the IS marking. The newest they could be is 1898 however the Threaded Oval pattern is a very early 1800’s pattern and these are likely closer to the 1860’s range. Piece measures just about 12 inches long. Piece is in very good to excellent condition. The corner of the blade is bent a little bit. Blade has some very tiny discolored tarnish spots a thorough polishing will remedy. It measures about 6.7 tall. It shows an alligator with a parachute on and also a helmet and goggles with the number 14 on the helmet. I was able to find a similar one on the internet and it was for VT-14 which was a training squadron. The patch shows wear and is a little dingy. There is some edge wear where it looks like this was sewn on to something at one point and taken off. It does have some loose threads on the edges as well. Vintage Early USN WW2 M445 a Heavy Leather Bomber Jacket NAS Niagara Stencil. I really don’t know much about this item except that you see it as it was pulled from an old war chest. I didn’t clean it or do Anything at all to it. It is in pretty rough shape. So please look at pics for the condition. Shoulder seem down arm to the end of cloth cuff is 24 inch. Across the back from shoulder seem to shoulder seem (above the Niagara lettering near top) is 18 inch. On the back from top seem to the bottom of the jacket vertical height? If I put the zipper together on the front and measure across the pockets it is 20 inches across. Also keep in mind its more of a show piece at this point. It’s antiquated and I don’t think it would hold up to being actually worn. VIETNAM STABO EXTRACTION HARNESS. C&B Industries Nashville, TN. These are the absolute best quality and made in very limited quantities. OUR PRODUCT: This STABO is one of the early CISO (first pattern) versions used in Vietnam. Copied from a verified original sample. This rig has been reproduced with every attention to detail including the anti-fraying sealant applied to some of the webbing ends found on the early first pattern STABOs. Made with most all original components. All original hardware dated’67 or’68. Original webbing, except for the main body which our in-house exact reproduction webbing with black flecked edges. Sewn on heavy duty vintage rigger sewing machines with original thread. The easiest way to configure this harness is to slide a bare pistol belt through the two rear loops and be sure that it is centered, then slide each end of the pistol belt through each of the two front loops. Then you may begin to add your pouches and accessories to your STABO rig. Height of this rig can be raised or lowered with the front two adjustment straps. Simply raise or lower the level of the pistol belt until the desired “ride height” level of the pistol belt is reached which should be just above your natural waist. During ground operations the lower leg straps were commonly taped or secured with rubber bands to the rear of the pistol belt until extraction was imminent. Supports that these were made in 3 sizes, small, medium and large. All of the STABOs I have handled (never seen any marked) have been within the same size range that I would estimate as being medium. This is a copy of that size which fits the most common body types. Hi, Received the STABO harness yesterday and I love it. It’s great how you can adjust it to your height. Most Stabos I have seen for sale don’t have this function because they are tailored for your height, which sounds stupid. You should advertise this feature in your stabo auctions more clearly, just my opinion. The STABO (STAbilized BOdy) extraction harness was a device which allowed military personnel to be rescued (by helicopter) from field locations which prevented the conventional landing and boarding of a helicopter. It was designed and developed by U. Army Special Forces personnel stationed in Vietnam during the Vietnam War, and became a widely used and highly successful extraction device employed during the Vietnam War. Sergeant First Class Clifford L. Army, Special Forces, drew up the first design on a napkin, after a wounded Special Forces Soldier fell out of a McGuire extraction rig, during a combat extraction mission. SFC Roberts used the unit’s parachute loft, and made the first prototype on the sewing machines used to service and repair parachutes. He was then sent to present the design. The design was approved and 500 rigs were ordered. SFC Roberts was awarded a Bronze Star for the design. The STABO harness/rig was a machine-stitched, skeletonized harness, very similar to that of a standard parachute harness.
