Vintage framed United States Navy document grouping featuring four original service certificates belonging to Tom Edward Christie, USNR. This set includes his 1957 Shellback Certificate, 1957 Royal High Court of the Raging Main summons, 1957 Commission Certificate appointing him as Ensign, and his 1967 Honorable Discharge Certificate. All documents are original period pieces and present clean, legible text with strong display appeal. The grouping is professionally framed in a 24″ x 24″ x 0.75 black frame. Frame shows visible surface scratches with blue showing through in areas, and the back has a couple of small holey spots from prior mounting. Documents remain well-preserved and are securely mounted. WW2 US NAVY PILOT JACKET uniform vet document veteran grouping lot. This came from a foot locker in local Pennsylvania that belonged to ensign Frank Macieleg navy pilot. The information picker told me he was shot down over the Mediterranean late war and rested at AAF camp capri(ashtray included). Lot also includes flight training manuals, other books and certificate of flight pilot training school. Also includes flight helmet that does have separation from button straps. The jacket is salty as shown with some tears and unknown if zipper will. I have not treated the leather or cleaned it at all. This is an original WW2 veteran grouping. A huge 12+ pound lot consisting of hundreds of letters, documents, military papers, postcards, ephemera and other WW2 related items. The collection of letters is to and from a Lt. Hazen Hardy who was from southeastern PA and served in US NAVY Argus Unit 15. Most of the correspondence appears to be between Hardy and his wife but there are letters to and from others mixed in. It appears that Mr. Hardy was called into service around 1940 and was out of the service around 1945 or 46. During this time Hardy served in many different areas aboard many different navy vessels and bases. There is associated paperwork and schedules from places like Fort Meade, Maryland and US naval ships. I’ve only read a few letters from the collection and they seemed very well written with clear handwriting that is easy to read. I believe that Mr. Hardy was a part of a unit that would have landed in enemy territory before an invasion and direct allied air power and set up communications. It appears that most of the letters have envelopes but there are a few scattered through that do not. Many of the letters are 3 to 4 pages long and double-sided. From what I saw it looks like many were written on US Navy letterhead. The collection spans the years of 1940 through 1946. There are miscellaneous items such as cuff links, passes, photos ect.
