C. 1900 US Navy Silverplated Officers' Mess Cutlery Rare Threaded Oval Pat

In amazing condition for its age, this silver plated, Officers’ Mess flatware in the Threaded Oval pattern by International Silver dates from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. It’s an extremely scarce pattern with an engraved Sailor’s Knot motif and the initials “USN” in a serif typeface with raised periods between the letters. The handles of all of the pieces are engraved with the sailor’s knot/USN motif. The blades of carbon steel are silver plated and are very sharp. The ONLY condition issue with the pieces offered is a loss of silver on the edges of the blades. Otherwise, all the pieces offered are in excellent condition, as shown. I did lightly polish everything in order to show the quality of the silver. The tines of the forks are straight with sharp points. The knives have weighted handles and there’s no looseness. No hallmarks on the knives, but the backs of the forks are all marked: INTERNATIONAL SILVER CO. ” included: 6 matching table knives, 8.75″ long 3 forks, 7″ long 1 fork, 7.5″ long Total Weight: 1 lb.

Very rare large WW2 era US Navy Marlin Spike Knife by CAMILLUS CUTLERY COMPANY. Designated by Camillus as Pattern 7085 Rosewood, only 38,148 M7085s were manufactured making it one of the toughest finds out of all standard-issue American WW2 knives. This knife type is illustrated on p42 of the U. MILITARY KNIVES; BOOK TWO published in 1973 by MH Cole. Slightly used condition; heavy marlin spike is about 4 /10 cm; the tip in intact; the spring is extended to form a screwdriver on the end of the handle. The blade is about 3-3/4 /9.5 cm; it has been re-sharpened, very sharp still. The tang is stamped CAMILLUS/CUTLERY CO. Original jigged rosewood handle scales with steel bolsters & pins; original steel shackle is intact; the knife is about 5-1/4 / 13.3 cm closed. Very rare large WW2 era US Navy Marlin Spike Knife with 4″ marlin spike, 3-3/4″ blade, and rosewood handle scales, manufactured circa 1942 by CAMILLUS CUTLERY COMPANY – one of the largest contributors of the edged weapons to the US military during the war. As “Pattern 7085 Rosewood”, only 38,148 M7085s were manufactured making it one of the toughest finds out of all standard-issue American WW2 knives. This knife type is illustrated on page 42 of the. MILITARY KNIVES; BOOK TWO. Published in 1973 by M. Cole – a well-established expert and the author of a number of books on the subject of the US military edged weapons (see the book’s scans attached).
