NAVY OFFICER UNIFORM COAT BUTTON – ALBERT NA 62B. Navy officer uniform coat button from the 1820s (post-War of 1812 and pre-Civil War). This button was listed as the “#2″ design in the 1820 Navy Uniform Order and was prescribed for use on the uniforms of Masters Commandants and Lieutenants. The front side has an eagle perched on a branch, holding a shield containing an anchor with his left wing and looking over his right shoulder. The background is lined and there are 13 stars around the border. The back side is marked “ROBINSON & CO” AND “EXTRA RICH”, the mark of Richard Robinson & Co. This one-piece button measures about 7/8 (22 mm) in diameter. It is listed in Albert’s book as NA 62B. It is guaranteed to be a genuine U. Navy officer button from the 1820s and NOT a reproduction. Condition of this 1820s Navy officer button is VERY GOOD. It is structurally undamaged and much of the original gilt is still intact. Overall, this button looks great and displays well. It would make a fine addition to any collection. Please take a close look at the many photos I’ve provided and judge condition for yourself. The stitching along the bottom hem is somewhat loose as shown in the photos and it looks like the tail inner seam was repaired and is loose at the bottom of the repair also shown. Authentic US Navy, male, officer, service dress white choker uniform. The jacket displays impressive, Vietnam era ribbons to include a Bronze Star, PH, and vintage observer wings (no longer used). The jacket/tunic does display use; however, the trousers are new with tags (NWT). No shoulder rank boards were with this uniform; however, the uniform loops (for the boards) are present with no damage.
