US Naval Academy Midshipman’s / Officer’s Peacoat By Jacob Reed’s Sons, Est. This military garment includes a number of novel features, only some of which are included on civilian attire. Inside breast pockets, R & L. Outside waist pockets R & L, with pass-through slit for accessing trouser pockets. Dagger / sword hilt slit, L side. Hanger chain, to better distribute the garment’s weight on a clothes hanger. Neck latch, for use when collar is up-turned in truly inclement weather. Slit at back-bottom photographed in a buttoned state, can be unbuttoned (see dimensions below for slit length). Attachment loops L & R for shoulder boards bearing Officer’s rank insignia. Problems with this garment. The label indicating garment size was removed by an earlier owner, presumably because it was permanently stenciled with PII-compromising data like surname, last-4, and perhaps commissioning class number. For size, see “Dimensions” below. There is wear on the ouside of the left sleeve, the inside-back region, a few inches above the cuff. This is presumably caused by the aforementioned dagger or sword. That wear indicates the peacoat is probably a real McCoy from Annapolis, not a cheap foreign imitation. Dimensions to assess fit. Across shoulders: 20 in. Sleeves: 25.5 in. Collar to hem: 46 in. Back slit length: 15 in. Weight: 5 lbs 14 oz + packaging weight. Our test-fit model is a 46L, over a t-shirt he thought it fit like a 44R (no jacket, shirt, AND tshirt per uniform regs).
