Up for sale is a US Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer garrison cap device (mid star) by No-Shine Insignia. This one is new, in package and not issued. Mid star devices are very hard to find. There have been three distinct variations of this device: low, mid and high star. The ranks of Senior Chief and Master Chief Petty Officer was created in 1958. In the 1959 uniform instruction, collar devices were created for CPOs and the stars were added to them and the garrison cap device, but not the combination cover devices. In 1969, the stars were added to the combination cover devices for SCPO, MCPO and MCPON. The following are the approximate dates of each variation.
