NAVY OFFICER UNIFORM COAT BUTTON – ALBERT NA 62B. Navy officer uniform coat button from the 1820s (post-War of 1812 and pre-Civil War). This button was listed as the “#2″ design in the 1820 Navy Uniform Order and was prescribed for use on the uniforms of Masters Commandants and Lieutenants. The front side has an eagle perched on a branch, holding a shield containing an anchor with his left wing and looking over his right shoulder. The background is lined and there are 13 stars around the border. The back side is marked “ROBINSON & CO” AND “EXTRA RICH”, the mark of Richard Robinson & Co. This one-piece button measures about 7/8 (22 mm) in diameter. It is listed in Albert’s book as NA 62B. It is guaranteed to be a genuine U. Navy officer button from the 1820s and NOT a reproduction. Condition of this 1820s Navy officer button is VERY GOOD. It is structurally undamaged and much of the original gilt is still intact. Overall, this button looks great and displays well. It would make a fine addition to any collection. Please take a close look at the many photos I’ve provided and judge condition for yourself.
