UNITED STATES NAVY WORLD VOYAGE. 1908 – Medal commemorates visit to San Diego of United States Battle Fleet on its voyage around world under command of Admiral Robley D. TYPE I – Obv. Within center circle is male military bust facing part r. Outside, above Robley D. Evans; outside, below San Diego 1908. Within circle is sailing vessel; outside, above Juan R. Cabrillo; outside, below San Diego 1542. The So-Called dollar appears to have been carried (as you would a challenge coin) for many years. It has light scratches, edge dings, and some discoloration on both sides. Probably can be cleaned, but I leave vintage items as I find them to preserve the history. Each ding/nick, scratch etc tells a story.
