In amazing condition for its age, this silver plated, Officers’ Mess flatware in the Threaded Oval pattern by International Silver dates from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. It’s an extremely scarce pattern with an engraved Sailor’s Knot motif and the initials “USN” in a serif typeface with raised periods between the letters. The handles of all of the pieces are engraved with the sailor’s knot/USN motif. The blades of carbon steel are silver plated and are very sharp. The ONLY condition issue with the pieces offered is a loss of silver on the edges of the blades. Otherwise, all the pieces offered are in excellent condition, as shown. I did lightly polish everything in order to show the quality of the silver. The tines of the forks are straight with sharp points. The knives have weighted handles and there’s no looseness.
