This shirt is a superb artifact from the 1980s, supporting El Salvador’s FMLN (Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front) in its fight against the United States government-backed, and very corrupt, Salvadoran government. The shirt is a brilliant dandelion yellow color, with a black and red graphic on the chest, depicting an armed guerilla fighter on top of the combined FMLN and communist party flags. Along with the graphic are the words “El Salvador” across the top and “vencerá” down the side. The whole image is done in a very rudimentary way, giving the whole ensemble a very brutalist/pop-art -type look. I have never seen another FMLN shirt from this era, and certainly never seen one with as cool as a look as this one – I very much doubt that there’s another one of these out there. The shirt is on the 80s screen stars tag, with single stitched sleeves and hem. The shirt is labeled as a size medium, but fits much more like a size small.
