PLEASE FOLLOW OUR E BAY STORE. SALE SEE OUR STORE. PLEASE READ WHOLE ADD. This is a WW2 United States Navy Good Conduct medal group to a Pearl Harbor survivor. The Good Conduct medal has the original slot type WW2 style brooch. The ribbon is in very good condition but does have two small holes where bronze reup stars may have been installed. The ribbon does have three reenlistment bars, two pin-back and one slide on, indicating SECOND, THIRD and FOURTH AWARD bars. The planchet is in near perfect condition and the reverse is officially impressed PRESTON/B. The group includes the American Defense Service medal that has the original slot type brooch, and original ribbon. The ribbon is in excellent condition and supports the FLEET service clasp. The planchet is in near perfect condition, and comes with an open C, pin-back ribbon bar in good condition. The group includes a WW2 Victory medal that has the original slot type brooch and original ribbon. The ribbon and the planchet are both in excellent condition. The group contains the American Campaign medal which has the original crimp brooch and original ribbon. The ribbon and planchet are in almost perfect condition. The group includes the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal, that has the original crimp type brooch and original ribbon. The ribbon and planchet are both in near perfect condition. This group of medals were awarded and/or issued to. Chief Damage Controlman (DCC) Preston B. Harrold was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on May 12, 1915. He first joined the Navy in May of 1934, at NRS Birmingham, Alabama. He saw sea duty on the USS Rigel (AR-11), and was present at Pearl Harbor, during the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941. He went on to serve until honorably discharged and retired in April of 1964. He died on February 18, 1990, at Murphys, CA, and was cremated with his ashes spread near the USS Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor, HI. I will include a 9 page copy of his FOIA military records as provided by the St. Louis Archives, and a one page copy of his Navy muster roll which confirms his assigned duty on the USS Rigel during the Pearl Harbor attack. I should also note that he was also awarded the National Defense Service medal, but if issued, the whereabouts are unknown. I also assume that he was eligible for the Korean War Service and the UN Korean Service medals, but his records do not show those awards.
