US Navy Destroyer Squadron Five (DESRON 5) Hand Painted Metal Command Plaque. From the estate of Capt. David Nash, Navy Cross Recipient for his actions during WW2 while serving in the Philippines as a Lt. On the river gunboat USS Mindanao PR-8 (and who subsequently survived the Bataan Death march upon being captured after the Mindanao was sunk). Later in his career, Capt. Nash went on to Command DESRON 5, during which time he received the plaque featured in this listing. The hand painted metal plaque measures 7.5″ x 7″; the hard-wood base measures 11.75″ x 11.75″. Overall the piece is in very good+ antique condition. There’s a mounting wire in the back for convenient wall hanging. I will include the article shown in pic #5 with the plaque. Please examine the listing photos for content and condition specifics, and feel free to send along any questions you may have. This is an original item, not a reproduction. From a smoking-free home.
