The US Navy in WW2 issued the rugged 7 blade Mk. 2 fighting knife to sailors, Seabees, and UDT men, and it quickly became known simply as the “KA-BAR”. This US Navy WW2 KA-BAR MK. 2 FIGHTING KNIFE is in good condition, with the blade having been re-parkerized at some point after the war, some light sharpening to the blade edge and the top false edge, some light nicking along the middle right blade spine, some scattered scratching and light finish abrading at each side of the blade, some upward bending to each end of the guard, some light patina to the guard and pommel, some light loosening to the middle handle washers, some scattered warping and separating to all of the handle washers, a scuff in the right edge of the pommel, some nicking to the bottom of the pommel, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the knife is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a 7″ clip point bowie blade that retains approximately 85% of the re-parkerized finish, sports the classic stacked leather washer “tootsie roll” handle, and is stamped “USN / MK 2″ at the top of the guard, along with its maker, the famous “KA-BAR. It boasts a thin steel guard and a pinned steel pommel, and is complete with the original US Navy WW2 Mk. 2 Scabbard in good condition, with a small chip in the lower right front body, a small crack in the middle right side edge of the body, a bit of loose stitching at the lower right front belt hanger, some patina to the metal rivets of the belt hanger, some scattered scratching and brownish soiling to the body, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the scabbard is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough plastic construction, which retains approximately 85% of the original gray finish. Most interestingly, it’s stamped U. 2″ at the metal reinforced front throat, bears a fully functional darkened brass “glove” snap closure gray canvas handle retention strap, and is marked at the back throat with its maker, “B. Vp, the Victory Plastics division of the famous Beckwith Manufacturing Company. It carries a fully intact gray canvas belt hanger, and the set is a fine example of a rare, original US Navy WW2 KA-BAR MK. Track Page Views With. Auctiva’s FREE Counter.
