A guaranteed original 8 foot long by 45 inch tall stitched cotton flag dating to WW2. This’Army/Navy flag was awarded fo’Excellence in Productiion’ during the war. It was better known as the’ERODUCTION’ flag. This piece was removed from a naval officers steamer trunk and retains a musty smell despite it’s week of airy freedom from that enclosure. The odor has dissipated greatly over the past 6 days and I’m certain it will be easily remedied with a good soaking in Woolite. I also must memtion two small, patchable holes on the lower right section of the flag. I put a couple of quarters in the photos so as to show how negligible and treatable they are. Otherwise there isn’t any significant fading though there is a need to clean up the’E’ a bit as some color from a blanker seems to have run. THIS IS A RARE FLAG. Examples are scarcely available. N example fetched over 550 in 2014 and just recently, on Dec 2nd, an 8 footer brought a quick 500. I had hoped to retain this for my personal collection but monetary weariness prevails!
