Pre-WWII Model 1852 USN-US Navy-Naval Officers Etched Sword with Scabbard and Sword Knot. The ricasso is marked “Horstmann” over “Philadelphia” and behind the washer is “Germany”. The brass guard and grip have a little movement. The twisted wire is complete. The quillion has a little bend. The sword knot has some wear on the actual knot and the strap looks solid. The etched blade has the name William C. Straub” on it, the spine has what looks like a “7 on it, has not been sharpened but the tip is sharp, no nicks, and there are some small rust spots scattered throughout. The leather wrapped metal scabbard is solid with little wear except there is a break about an inch above the drag piece and there are a few pinches to the scabbard that cause the sword to go in very tightly! Length of the blade measures 32″ (3/4″ wide x 3/16″ thick), length of the sword is 37 1/4″, and overall in the scabbard it is 38. Check out my other War items!!
