Possibly the rarest example of a Navy Good Conduct Medal for sale on the market anywhere right one. This style of Navy GCM was not award i believe until 1886 and this is 1887 bascially one of the firsr year awards! Very rare and historic medal. It somehow found its way to the England and i just paid to have it imported back it was found in an estate there. This example is named CSC No 5967 George Bartlett USS Galena August 30th 1887. The engraving is stunning and unlike any i have seem on the later examples it exhibit multiple different fonts and the engraver was a true pro. I cant even find another 1800s example for sale on the market they are abour as hard to find as it gets. This one shows age and wear the odd suspension was added on it possibly period as it is also very old but could be removed if you so desire. It also shows rim dings and wear almost as though some carried it in a pocked or on a watch fob! Overall a very very odd item. I cant seem to find any.
