Civil War Model 1852 USN Naval Officers Etched Sword with Leather Scabbard. The ricasso is marked “Hayden Costume Co” over “Boston, Mass” and below that there is a Kings Head stamp for Gebruder Weyersberg. The brass guard and pommel cap have a wiggle. The grip has a minor wiggle, the sharkskin grip is 95% complete and the brass twisted wire is complete but has a little movement. The etched blade has not been sharpened, some small nicks along the edge, the spine is marked “Iron Proof”, age spots scattered throughout with very light surface rust mainly on the last 10″ by the blunted tip, and there is a 2″ section 3 1/2 up from the ricasso with rust. The leather scabbard has some crazing, the stitching has let go from about a 1/2 below the throat piece to the top of the hanger mount, it is missing the drag, on. The back of the throat piece by the screw and on the hanger mount by the screw is stamped “6”. Length of the blade measures 28″ (1 1/16″ wide x 5/16″ thick), length of the sword is 33 3/8″, and overall in the scabbard it is also 33 3/8 because of the missing drag.
