All original 40 U. Navy Admirals launch boat. It was stationed on the USS Ronald Reagan a Nimitz class nuclear powered aircraft carrier. The Ronald Reagan is the command carrier for the U. Pacific 7th fleet currently operating in the south China sea. The naval markings on the back of this 40 launch boat are COMCARSTRKGRU7 which stands for Command Carrier Strike Group 7th fleet. This launch boat was designed and built to NAVSEA specification by Modutech in Tacoma Washington. Naval Surface Warfare hull number 40PE8517. Designed and built to withstand the impact of a 60 drop into the water from the carrier in an emergency scenario. Try doing that with any other 40 cruiser without causing serious damage. Exclusively used by the 7th fleet admiral on the USS Ronald Reagan. Engine hours are 214 & 197 on each Detroit Diesel 671n engine. The highly desirable MH series Allison 2:1 transmissions are absolutely bulletproof. The Allisons are designed to go from forward to reverse at full throttle for any emergency stops or collision avoidance. Don’t do that with any of the newer ZF type transmissions that have been used for the last 2 decades. Each transmission is rated for a 540HP engine and the Detroit’s are rated at 250HP each so there plenty of room to add turbochargers if you like. Over 15 knots cruising speed with a 4 draft makes this an ideal cruiser. Here is a blog post back in 2007 on the Allison. Krush, those bad boys are overbuilt and very heavy duty. What impressed me the most was the fact that they were all designed to withstand the abuse of full-throttle gear changes! Imagine full throttle fwd to reverse and back, leaving the throttles on the pins! Supposedly the Coast Guard would not accept a new boat unless this operation was proved on sea trial. I wonder if any of the current popular marine gear manufacturers (TwinDisc, ZF, etc) would suggest such a test? Fairly easy to remove from the water with its naval hoisting cable that’s included, no specialty equipment required. GRP hull with hydraulic steering. Still in its original complete configuration. Comes with its original navy boat cradle. The hull has a very substantial steel h-beam molded into the hull that the hoisting cable attaches to 2 points. The h-beam give the hull ultra strength to withstand any rough seas or sudden impacts. Weight on crane scale during removal is at 20,000 Lbs. With empty fuel tanks. This launch boat is a valuable piece of U. Modutech, Uniflite and Willard made these boats for the U. There is a saying about Detroit Diesels, is that the Detroits will always get you home. All analog with no computer circuitry to fail. EMP or solar flare, no problem. Location: Port Of Lewiston, Lewiston Idaho 83501. We can assist with the transportation logistics if requested.
