Rare and outstanding original WW2 Early US Navy Hook Closure Deck Jacket. Size 46, Contract HXS 22371. US Navy stenciled on the back. These jackets are extremely rare, especially with the tag and contract number still present, and the back stenciled. 46 is a good size. The jacket measures 20 inches across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, 26 inches tall at the back from bottom of collar to bottom of waste band, sleeves measure 20 inches from armpit to end of wool cuff, armpit seam to armpit seam across is 25.5 inches. Good condition for what it is, these jackets almost always have a fair amount of wear. Good condition with a fantastic patina. All hooks are present and working, original tag is still present which is rare. Fair amount of natural patina, discoloration/fading/light stains. The jacket has probably never been cleaned, i think if you could safely clean the shell, it would clear up most of the discoloration, but i love the patina, personal preference. Wool collar and waste band have small holes(pictured). Both cuffs have some seperation of 1 layer of wool, the wool cuff is folded over and then sewn when made, so it is 2 layers, the outer layer has seperated on about half of each cuff(pictured). The inner right sleeve has 2 small holes from seperation at the seam(pictured), about 8 inches up from the cuff. The wool liner has a few small holes on the right side. Overall, good original piece.
